The African Library project wants to supplement the new libraries that it will ship to 60 rural schools in Malawi in 2016 with HIV/AIDS readers. These colorful, engaging, straightforward books are written by South African health educators at a level that children can understand, and cover what HIV/AIDS is, how it is transmitted, life skills and decision-making to avoid the disease and how to manage grief and loss. Malawi has one of the highest HIV infection rates in the world. Over a million people, 130,000 of whom are children, are currently living with HIV or AIDS.
