children at school in Nepal

Migrants Organise is developing a lending library for adults and children.  Every Tuesday, migrant women and their children meet to learn English in an informal setting.  These books encourage conversation and friendship among the mums, as well as contact among their children.  There is a wide range of English ability.  One member of the group wants to go to university; another wants to write stories for children, translating them from English to her first language.  Others are keen on reading relatively easy novels and short stories.  A survey will be conducted as to what types of books the group would like to have available for themselves and their children.  Each week the participants take turns reading aloud from a picture book. Each person has a notebook for the words they do not know.  Books will be purchased from second hand book shops, local charity shops and online.
