In November 2020, a civil conflict broke out in the northern Ethiopian region of Tigray, which ultimately claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people due to wartime violence, widespread famine and lack of medical care. The local infrastructure was devastated, including schools. While a peace agreement in 2022 brought the conflict to a close, survivors are experiencing stress and are struggling to rebuild their lives. The Koraro Primary School, grades 1-8, needs school supplies for their 800 students. The school reopened its doors in May 2023 for the first time in over three years, but the teachers lack basic educational supplies.
