$30.00 will provide orphaned and vulnerable girls, age 11 – 14, with a hygiene kit. The kit will include four pieces of underwear; two bars of soap with a soap dish and six reusable sanitary pads. Many girls are forced to stay home from school during menstruation due to lack of supplies. By having this hygiene kit, community stigmatization during menstruation is reduced and girls’ participation in classroom activities, sports and social activities at school and home is increased. Girls are less likely to drop out of school. Increased confidence is related to better school performance.
