solar pump

The Mabali Koto community in The Gambia lacks access to clean drinking water since the pump broke one year ago. Mothers and children walk long distances just to get a few buckets of water each day. Despite getting up at 4:00 AM to stand in line for water, children are often late to school. The situation is worse during the rainy season (July to October) because the roads are flooded. The community will provide the manual labor to dig the trenches and lay the pipes. The Water Management Committee will oversee the sustainability of the project.
