At present, there are 60 young adults residing in nine orphanages who are experiencing a vulnerable period as they prepare to leave the only homes they have known. These individuals often feel unprepared – emotionally, financially and practically – for the challenges of independent life. There is limited government support for orphanages and a scarcity of philanthropic resources, making it difficult for these young adults to secure essentials needed to start their new lives.
